As previously stated, I understand that one bad officer doesn’t reflect the department as a whole, but officers like him should not be out in the field with civilians. His attitude and complete lack of respect should be in a position in which he doesn’t have to interact with community members. Preferably in an office environment where sorting papers is the only thing he has to worry about would be my suggestion.

Multiple speed traps at the bottom of hills. Naperville is more concerned with revenue than actual policing. Beware on Naper Blvd with the rolling hills, they like to set up at the bottom and catch motorists coming down. This practice is unethical and is in line with red light camera's in terms of total effectiveness vs safety.

May 16, 2017 the Naperville Police Dept responded rapidly to an incident on an inbound AMTRAK train within 5 minutes of the 911 call. It was a chaotic scene, at least 1000 people were affected. With utmost professionalism, courtesy, and expertise, these men and women conducted a thorough investigation so the the train could get underway in less than 3 hours! I'm very impressed. The fire department EMS responded in exactly the same manner. Kudos to all of you. Naperville is very lucky to have you!

As I slowly approached the church, I see 2 officers texting away on their phone. Waiting for them to direct me inside the parking lot, they completely ignored me so I slowly move a few feet passed them because of their complete lack of instruction. I also needed to move passed them so I could make the turn as they were both texting in the middle of the street complete ignoring all traffic around them. The lack of professionalism there is enough to speak on, but what happens afterwards is the main reason that I am writing this.

Even though I had an awful, rude and unprofessional experience with one of Naperville’s very own police officers, I still want to thank you for your continued support throughout the community.

As a business financial supporter of the men in blue I love the police, but I have to speak from experience that the Village of Naperville Police Department has once again disappointed me for the second time with the Tribune Story. The first time was when one of their finest personally called me on behalf of an influential family in the Village, not to pursue a family member for non payment of bills. It seems they are very good at harassment and intimidation when your are alone or without your attorney. One thing to do it to a grown man, I sued anyway, another to do it to a 16 yr old kid without his parents or attorney there. Nice job guys! Everyone gets a medal for this one. Oh yeah, don't forget the Dean.

As I’m beginning to turn into the church for Sunday service, the heavier set officer with dark hair races up to my drivers side window and begins to forcefully knock on my window. Confused, I roll it down and before I could even greet him he begins yelling at me asking me why I am passed the officers. Again, before I could even get a word out, he then begins to yell at me again about how I am breaking the law. During his unacceptable outburst, I understand what type of officer I am dealing with so I wait for him to lower his voice. After he finishes his sentence, I quickly tell him that both he and his fellow officer were busy on their phones and standing in the middle of traffic so I went ahead and prepared to make the turn myself.

Called to report someone breaking into my car. Police did not respond for over two hours. Finally gave up. I was called later that evening and told that they were in the middle of a shift change and that was the delay. Criminal was able to get away due to their lack of response. I was also told someone would follow up with me for further investigation, but wouldn't be the officer I spoke with on phone. He was going on vacation. That was a few weeks ago and I never heard from anyone.

Having said all of that, I completely understand that this rude and unprofessional officer doesn’t represent the entirety of the Naperville Police Department, but even as a human being, I have never felt so disrespected by ANYONE. Police or not. For anyone, especially an OFFICER, to act this way is extremely immature and unprofessional. I think your department needs to rethink how it interacts with its community because from my experience, it was an absolute nightmare. I wish I had enough time to ask the officers name so I could write it here, but this officer was on a complete mission to show how much “power” he thinks he has. If he continues to treat community members like this, than I am certain that he will get what is coming to him. Whether it is good, bad or indifferent, his actions will surely catch up to him one day.

As I said that, he began to turn red in the face and took a quick look in the car noticing that my cell phone was on. He starts yelling once again how it is illegal for me to have my cell phone on using GPS while driving. Seeing how I was dealing with a hot headed police officer who was riding high on his power trip, I decided against informing this uneducated poor excuse of an officer that it is in-fact LEGAL to operate your cellphone as GPS while you are driving. As I took a look at the clock and seeing how much time was wasted with this unprofessional poor excuse as a police officer, I calmly stayed silent as he continued to yell and scream about how he can take me to jail. After about 15 seconds of this, I ask him can I please go to service now. He releases his hand off my car and disrespectfully tells me to Go. I tell the angry, disrespectful officer to have a good day and finally make it to service.

This message goes to the poor excuse of an “officer” that I had the unfortunate experience of crossing paths with. The heavy set officer who was on traffic control at the Calvary Church approximately on October 1st 2017 around 11:15am is an absolute embarrassment to the entire police department.
